Crossing Guard Program

Madison's Adult School Crossing Guard Program supports active transportation by helping children walk and bicycle safely to and from school. Guards protect young pedestrians, remind drivers to slow down, and give parents peace of mind about their children's daily commute.

Program Goals

  • Protect Young Pedestrians: Guide children safely across streets at busy, key intersections.
  • Alert Drivers: Serve as a visible reminder for drivers to watch for kids and other pedestrians in school zones.
  • Build Parent Confidence: Help parents feel comfortable and secure letting their children walk or bike to school.
  • Teach Lifelong Safety: Act as positive role models who help children develop the skills and responsibility needed to cross streets safely on their own.
